DESIGNER + DIRECTOR
I’ve always described myself as a split entity, equal parts creative and analytical. Split-brained and always curious. I’m an artist and researcher, designer and project manager, team player and problem solver.
I’m experienced with architectural and interior design, and spent the last eight years working in the film industry. As a Production Designer and Art Director, I managed creative and construction teams to develop the visual design and builds for hundreds of sets. The first step is walking into a space - whether an empty sound stage, or an existing location - and picturing the possibilities. The second is strategizing how to build it out and adapt existing elements to make it fit a specific visual style, while on a strict budget and timeline. The third is all about adornment - research, mood boarding, and selecting materials, color palettes, art, graphics, lighting, and furniture. The end result is a curated overall vision through combined elements that compliment and contrast one another, creating intrigue at every turn.
Prior to that, I helped manage a website design firm to grow it from 10 to 30 employees in the span of a year, where I developed and implemented new project management, HR, IT, and financial systems; created product photography and copy for a museum shop to increase in-store marketing and online sales; and created reproductions at a fine art print shop for artists, galleries, and museums. I studied Sculpture and Art History in college, receiving a dual BFA from MassArt in Boston.
My experience from different industries has allowed me to collect skills to excel in management roles that combine detailed project oversight and creative vision. I’ve honed my style through trial and error, research, and hours of practice. I’m highly organized, constantly re-prioritize tasks to keep to a schedule, and brainstorm solutions to stay within budget. I enjoy collaborating, love creating detailed work, and am a nerd for research.
